The ultimate chill out! Melt away the stress and tension of your week; reconnect with a deep sense of peace and centeredness. This workshop moves you through slow, deeply nurturing poses. You will learn how to tap into the relaxation response, release stress from the body and mind plus restore your natural energy. In the words of Lily Tomlin, “for fast-acting relief, try slowing down”.
What are the benefits of Restorative Yoga?
Many of us live in a chronically stressed state, reducing the quality of our life. An on-going highly stressed state can reduce our effectiveness at work as well as our ability to enjoy leisure time with family and friends. Stress can compromise our body’s capacity to deal with injury or illness, even creating conditions such as high blood pressure, ulcers, back pain, immune dysfunction and depression.
The antidote to stress is relaxation. This sounds simple enough but is often very hard to do. Restorative yoga teaches us how to relax both the body and mind creating a deep state of relaxation, and renewal of our natural energy. This practice soothes your nervous system, helps you quiet your mind and invites you to release deeply held tension, contributing to a feeling of overall well-being. Studies have shown that deep relaxation has profound health benefits and can effectively help to;
- Lower stress hormones
- Lower blood pressure
- Relieve chronic pain
- Increase productivity
- Alleviate sleep disorders
- Lower anxiety
About Tianne Banerd
Tianne came to yoga after a long career as a high performance athlete. She brought her passion and commitment as a dedicated athlete to her yoga practice, coming to the mat daily for power yoga practices. Her love of yoga grew and Tianne began teaching. One night, while out for an evening stroll with her dog, Tianne was hit by a car. Her yoga practice changed dramatically. Instead of power yoga flows, it became a practice of healing for body, mind and spirit, of finding peace within the trauma. The experience has been transformative.
Tianne now shares what she has learnt on her path of healing through teaching restorative yoga. The practice of restorative yoga, like all yoga styles, aims to cultivate emotional calm, mental clarity and inner peace, all within a healthy, vital body. The difference with restorative Yoga is that we slow it all down to deeply connect with our experience. Within this deep connection we learn how to breathe, move and quiet the mind to stimulate healing; restore, rebuild and rejuvenate the body. In gratitude to the healing practice and to the compassionate guidance of her teachers, Tianne is honoured to share her knowledge and experience through classes, workshops and teacher training.
Tianne is a registered yoga therapist, (International Association of Yoga Therapists), registered yoga teacher and teacher trainer, (RYT500, E-RYT200, Yoga Alliance).
