Jacci
Jacci’s journey in yoga began over 12 years ago when she sought out Ashtanga yoga as an alternate form of training for her career as a professional dancer. Once on the mat, she discovered that yoga was not only the perfect way to balance out the body’s strengths and weaknesses, but it also left her feeling peaceful and at ease. As her awareness grew she was able to manage chronic injuries left in her body from a career in dance. She even averted pending low-back surgery by committing to a steady and mindful yoga practice. She remains constantly humbled by how deep this practice can penetrate. A firm believer in the body-mind connection, she encourages her students to move away from the ego and into the true self. She is currently teaching hatha, flow and vinyasa yoga throughout Vancouver. Her classes emphasize a strong awareness of physicality along with self-acceptance and trusting the innate intelligence of the body. She has proudly been teaching yoga to all ages and abilities since 2004.

Ara

I stumbled upon yoga with a 20 minute video, popping it into the VCR late at night after I came home from work. I felt amazing – body, mind and spirit. I finally found perspective from my hectic day. How could a short video do this? I needed to know and experience this more, but I didn’t know how I could possibly add this onto my other fitness activities and my long work days. One day, I decided to focus on the one physical activity that I really loved, yoga, and see if I could maintain my physical fitness. I could always go back. The strength and ease I found in my body translated to my mind and my spirit. I realized that health is all three together.

Through my yoga practice, I find perspective and balance – at home, work, alone, with others, and within every moment. The answers to life’s challenges, on and off the mat, are within me. All I have to do is listen. When I listen, then act, I find integrity.

I bring this philosophy into my classes, blending flowing and held poses, stillness and movement. I encourage all students to find their own yoga, and incorporate it into their daily life.

Clara
Movement has always been sacred to me.

I have danced my whole life, whether it’s been grooving to a good song, taking dance classes or flowing through a vinyasa, my body can’t get enough. Through movement, I feel as though I’m communing with the Divine.

I took my first vinyasa class in 2000 at Jivamukti Yoga Center. I had a feeling of arriving home. We moved through postures seamlessly with an emphasis of breath-body connection. The class gave me what the dance world didn’t, an emphasis on the internal journey.

I received my 200 hour Vinyasa certification with Lauren Hanna at Sonic Yoga NYC in 2003. I met Shiva Rea shortly thereafter and again, felt as though I had come home. Shiva had created a language for the kind of movement I’ve been doing my whole life. She, too, understood the idea of fluidity. Our bodies yearn to move like water and when we do, our bodies hum with excitement. I’ve completed my 300 hour Prana Flow Certfication with Shiva.

I thank all my teachers for sharing their passion of this practice with me: David Life for opening my heart, Stacey Brass for her minute cues that have changed me life, Uma for opening my voice, Dana Flynn for throwing out all the rules and inspiring me to do the same, Constantine Darling for showing me another way, and Paul Ortega for reminding me we are ALL the cosmic dancer.

I invite you to be playful in your practice, remembering that lightness is found in spirit!

Peter
I am a Yogi – practitioner, student and teacher - and I have a deep passion for this wonderful practice and lifestyle. From my first experiences with asana, pranayama and meditation I knew that Yoga would be my path. My main goal in life is to share that passion and this practice that has transformed me profoundly with as many people as I can. I teach from personal experience and from my Heart. I believe in a practice led by breath and the innate wisdom of the body. I take students through sequences and into asanas with precision while encouraging them to turn inwards and observe the profound effects of the practice in the moment. I teach humbly and as a channel for this amazing tradition forever grateful to my teachers and those who have guided me.

Dan L.
Howdy! I did my 200 hour Hatha certification in the summer of 2004, and starting teaching 2 days after completion. In terms of what I offer in my classes, it really depends on the group that shows up, as I work with the energy of the room. Generally, but not always, I tend to infuse repetitive flow into a blend of standing and balancing poses, moving towards longer holds as the class progresses. I do my best to keep the flow fresh, changing, and charged with love, and some days working more on a Yin level, more chill, more stillness. My classes are all levels, leaning towards intermediate, although when I sub for other teachers, I do my best to honor the kind of class they would teach. That said, feel free to share concerns and I hope to see you in class:)

Bernie
Bernie Clark (ERYT 500) yoga practice encompasses the hard, yang-styles, such as Ashtanga and Power Yoga, and the softer, yin-styles, as exemplified in Yin Yoga. His meditation experience goes back to the early 80's when he first began to explore the practice of Zen meditation. He has a bachelor degree in Science and combines his intense interest in yoga with an understanding of the scientific approach to investigating the nature of things. His ongoing studies have taken him deeply inside mythology, comparative religions and psychology. All of these avenues of exploration have clarified his understanding of the ancient Eastern practices of yoga and meditation. His teaching, workshops and books have helped many students broaden their own understanding of health, life and the source of true joy.

Yin
Yin Yoga is a powerful practice which targets tendons, ligaments and fascia within the body. Each posture is held for long periods of time to encourage the slow and safe opening of connective tissues, leaving the yogi with an overall feeling of lightness, spaciousness and peace. The perfect antidote to stress and a great counter balance to more active style yoga.
Beverly
Beverly became a Yoga teacher in her 40’s after starting a practice over 15 years ago. Her experiences over the years brought her to a place where she felt she needed to take her practice deeper and share it’s infinite possibilities with others looking for a first time introduction or those looking to add to an already ingrained asana. Though teacher is the title, she feels guide is a more appropriate term as her belief is that the teacher is there to guide each student to the places and experiences that speak most, to the individual journey, allowing the students to connect to their own internal teacher so that their practice more personally fulfills their needs. Whether your desire is to follow a physical, mental or spiritual practice Beverly welcomes you to each class as the unique individual you are. Certified as a Hatha and Yin instructor she welcomes young and old, new and experienced to explore body and soul. Maybe you will find more open joints, maybe a more open heart and maybe you will just have a laugh. Whatever your goal, come ready to explore and breathe. Beverly’s own health experiences with heart and breath have given her a deeper understanding of the healing effects of yoga. Her wish is to pass on the knowledge shared over the centuries with others.
