Whether you are trying to get in shape, cope with tension from the office or relieve the tightness in your body from sports, Hatha yoga can benefit you. You can always make classes easier or more challenging for yourself by following the teachers’ cues for variations and modifications of the poses.
Tianne
Tianne’s passion for yoga started with her first class over 10 years ago. “My body felt strong and energized, I was calmer and more relaxed than I’d ever been! I wanted to learn more and share what I learned”. Tianne studied with world-renowned teachers Shiva Rea, (Vinyasa Flow) and David Swenson, (Ashtanga). She has also been privileged to learn from inspiring teachers Sarah Powers, Bryan Kest and Baron Baptiste. As a former high performance athlete with a degree in psychology, Tianne integrates her knowledge and experience to create dynamic yoga classes focusing on strength of body and spirit. “The greatest adventure is not to the moon-the greatest adventure is going to your innermost core”. Dan L.
Howdy! I did my 200 hour Hatha certification in the summer of 2004, and starting teaching 2 days after completion. In terms of what I offer in my classes, it really depends on the group that shows up, as I work with the energy of the room. Generally, but not always, I tend to infuse repetitive flow into a blend of standing and balancing poses, moving towards longer holds as the class progresses. I do my best to keep the flow fresh, changing, and charged with love, and some days working more on a Yin level, more chill, more stillness. My classes are all levels, leaning towards intermediate, although when I sub for other teachers, I do my best to honor the kind of class they would teach. That said, feel free to share concerns and I hope to see you in class:)

Colin
Colin teaches from a place of love, gratitude and compassion. He reminds us that living our 'now-life' is about being present in this moment and that dwelling in the past or speculating on the future doesn't serve anyone. With first hand experience, Colin knows that healing from pain, suffering and 'dis-ease', is unequivocally possible through yoga. Classes cater to all levels and are joyously active, empowering and filled with conscious breath.

Clara
Movement has always been sacred to me.

I have danced my whole life, whether it’s been grooving to a good song, taking dance classes or flowing through a vinyasa, my body can’t get enough. Through movement, I feel as though I’m communing with the Divine.

I took my first vinyasa class in 2000 at Jivamukti Yoga Center. I had a feeling of arriving home. We moved through postures seamlessly with an emphasis of breath-body connection. The class gave me what the dance world didn’t, an emphasis on the internal journey.

I received my 200 hour Vinyasa certification with Lauren Hanna at Sonic Yoga NYC in 2003. I met Shiva Rea shortly thereafter and again, felt as though I had come home. Shiva had created a language for the kind of movement I’ve been doing my whole life. She, too, understood the idea of fluidity. Our bodies yearn to move like water and when we do, our bodies hum with excitement. I’ve completed my 300 hour Prana Flow Certfication with Shiva.

I thank all my teachers for sharing their passion of this practice with me: David Life for opening my heart, Stacey Brass for her minute cues that have changed me life, Uma for opening my voice, Dana Flynn for throwing out all the rules and inspiring me to do the same, Constantine Darling for showing me another way, and Paul Ortega for reminding me we are ALL the cosmic dancer.

I invite you to be playful in your practice, remembering that lightness is found in spirit!

Yin
Yin Yoga is a powerful practice which targets tendons, ligaments and fascia within the body. Each posture is held for long periods of time to encourage the slow and safe opening of connective tissues, leaving the yogi with an overall feeling of lightness, spaciousness and peace. The perfect antidote to stress and a great counter balance to more active style yoga.
Joan
Teaching allows me to share with my students the same gifts that I receive from yoga: peace, confidence, strength, flexibility, health, awareness, freedom and joy. Yoga is the gateway to all of these – all you have to do is step through. I took that first step in 2002, and have been enjoying the journey ever since. Along the way I’ve studied with Eoin Finn, Max Strom, Gurmukh, Bernie Clark, and Michael Stone. Attending other teachers’ workshops and classes is a regular source of inspiration for me, but it’s when I’m teaching that I really learn the most.

One of my favourite sayings is from Zimbabwe: “If you can walk, you can dance. If you can talk, you can sing”. I like to add: “If you can breathe, you can do yoga.”
