Whilst packing up my apartment in London UK to embark on a new adventure to set up home in Vancouver BC, – back to the fresh air, mountains and water – I decided to kick start my new life by enrolling in a Yoga Teacher Training program. So began my Internet research and my first Semperviva encounter.
Semperviva’s 200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training course struck a chord with me because of it’s focus on personal development and yogic traditions, as well as the “technical” side of postures. So I signed up!
I landed in Vancouver and just one week later I started the course – the yoga training introduced me to the rare and special culture at Semperviva.
Like no other studio I have practiced in around the world, Semperviva captured what I thought yoga was all about but had never experienced it in a studio setting before – I felt welcome, included and part of a wonderful community!
I was able to step out of that place in my head where I wasn’t fit enough, flexible enough, knowledgable enough to practice (or even teach) yoga, and learned to be present and accept that I am all that I am. Just coming to my mat, moving my body and breathing is enough.
I believe Semperviva is an empowering community of people who want to take responsibility for their own wellbeing. Any “body” who can breathe is welcome. The amazing variety of classes and teachers continues to surprise me, where ever you are in your journey, you will find a yoga class to support that.
I feel blessed to be part of the Semperviva family and to be inspired every day by the community of people that practice with us. Our stories are endless and our challenges are relentless – but the service that Semperviva provides enables us to harness and develop the tools to show up in our lives.
Re-educating people about Yoga is our responsibility – Yoga is for EVERY body and as a Yoga teacher and part of the Semperviva team I am proud of the accepting, supportive and joyous circle of people that make up the growing Semperviva community.
May the “union” of the Semperviva community be “forever alive!”
